Here is a lovely dream time encounter from 11.16.14 Sunday AM: “In the middle of a long sequence I find myself standing in a beautiful river, having been encouraged (by?) to try out a fly fishing rig, and my line has worked itself way downstream, and I am enjoying quite an expanse of river, with great visibility, and then feel a tug on my fly, and recognize I have a nice fish on. A beautiful, wild fish. This is somewhat unexpected, but I am very happy, and enjoy feeling it work against the line tension, and sense it is well hooked, and I just get to enjoy it. This is what fly fishing is all about. After a bit I do reel in a little line to see how that works, and go back to slowly allowing it to just move against the tension, trusting “yes, this is how to do this.” It is a gorgeous day and this section of river couldn’t be prettier. After engaging the reel again, I go back to letting it work without reeling it in yet, saying to my guide(s) I can try reeling it in . . . but understand it isn’t time yet, and I will not lose the fish by allowing the set up, all of us, rod, reel, line, my body, the current, to be in this connection – it goes on – and in this dream, I am just gloriously being with “holding the tension.” I don’t land or lose the fish.”
Waking Reflections: The sense of beauty, connection, and timelessness in the dream carried over into a profound experience of reverie when I shared this dream with my analyst. Together, bearing witness to my evolving relationship with my wild soul nature.
